A private wireless network is a dedicated, single-entity network that uses radio technology for communication between devices, with the user controlling the entire infrastructure.

 This means a company or organization owns and manages its own set of sensors, gateways, and network servers, instead of relying on a public network provider.

The benefits extend along security, access & control and infrastructural extensibility lines. Cost-benefits over time must be weighed against the network benefits of using cellular, or other types of well established communication layer. Often the argument comes down to customization versus cost. Scale is a key constraint.
